Phil Squatrito’s oldest daughter was five years old and the only girl in a co-ed league where equal playing time wasn’t a priority. She was ready to shine, and Phil knew every girl deserved that chance.
So he started his own team, where every kid played and everyone had fun. Then came 16 girls on a corner of a rec field in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. They had no spotlight and no big budget, just a coach who believed in them and girls who loved the game.
The girls kept coming, so Phil struck out on his own and built Girlpower Flag.
From that one rec field, Girlpower has grown to more than 20 locations across 11 states, from Florida to Texas and from New Jersey to Oklahoma. Along the way it added programs in local high schools, an elite travel program and its own podcast, She Belongs. It runs on passion, purpose and integrity, and on one simple belief: all girls play.
