With Veo cameras on the sidelines, the Danish Futsal League has found the key to greater visibility and commercial growth. Fans can now follow all matches from home, while clubs share highlights on social media.

When Claus Mohrhagen looks back on his two years as league director for the Danish Futsal League, one thing is crystal clear: livestreaming has changed everything.

"The product is really good, but it just wasn't being shown enough," explains Mohrhagen. When he took on the role two years ago, there wasn't really anyone driving the league forward. Awareness of futsal was limited, and although the game was exciting, it wasn't reaching the public.

The Danish Futsal League consists of 10 clubs competing for the championship in the fast-paced and technically demanding indoor variant of football. The sport has grown steadily in Denmark, and the league attracts some of the country's most technically gifted players. But until recently, the league lacked visibility.

One of the solutions was Veo cameras, which the majority of clubs in the league now use to livestream their matches. The combination of automatic camera operation and easy streaming has given the league new opportunities to reach fans, sponsors, and potential partners.

"Several of the clubs use Veo cameras to livestream matches, and it has really made a difference," says Mohrhagen. Some matches are even shown on TV, but the ambitions reach further. The goal is for all matches to be available in good quality, regardless of where you are.

Quick clips shared on social media

The automatic function of Veo cameras is perfectly suited to futsal's pace. The camera follows the ball precisely, even when play changes direction in seconds, which is crucial in a sport where tempo and quick turns are central elements. This means that viewers at home get a professional viewing experience, even when there isn't an entire camera crew present.

"I work closely with the clubs to help them get started," says Mohrhagen. "It's about giving them the tools to showcase their product in the best possible way."

The effect on social media has been significant. By sharing clips and highlights from Veo-recorded matches, the Futsal League has overtaken many competing sports. The clubs now create "much more noise about their own product," as Mohrhagen puts it.

Veo's AI-powered clip function makes it easy for clubs to find and share the best moments from matches. A spectacular goal or crucial save can be quickly clipped and shared on social media, often before the match is finished. The short clips work perfectly on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where they can quickly create attention around the sport.

"Futsal deserves to be seen"

For a sport like futsal, visibility is crucial for commercialization. When matches are livestreamed via Veo, the potential for sponsors and advertising partners is significantly expanded. It also provides the opportunity to build a fanbase nationwide, where geographical limitations were previously a challenge.

Clubs like Hundested Futsal have embraced the technology and actively use Veo both for livestreaming and for analyzing play afterwards. The ability to review matches and training sessions helps both players and coaches develop.

The strong results of the Danish futsal national team have also helped the league. All national team players compete in the league, creating positive attention that rubs off on the entire product. When national team players score beautiful goals in league matches, and these goals are captured on cameras and shared on social media, it strengthens both the players' and the league's brand.

Mohrhagen is realistic about the challenges of commercializing a small sport. "It's a bit of 'what comes first, the chicken or the egg?' with a small sport," he admits. You need visibility to attract sponsors, but you need sponsor money to create visibility.

This is where Veo cameras have made a real difference. With relatively modest investments, even smaller clubs can now offer professional streaming of their matches, create engaging content for social media, and give players the opportunity to analyze their performances. This has helped break the vicious circle and give the league forward momentum.

With Veo cameras on the sidelines and a clear strategy for visibility, the Futsal League is well on its way toward a more professional and commercially sustainable future. For Mohrhagen, the way forward is clear: "We will continue to use the technology to showcase our product, because futsal deserves to be seen."
